Default What transmitter?

I picked up a switchblade/keyfob off of e-bay for my A8. I also have a key blank that needs to be cut at the delaer, but before that I'm going to try to get the fob working with the car.

I followed the instructions at audipages and it didn't seem to work. One key was in the ignition, turned to on, went outside with the other and locked the door. Left the key in the door but in the upright, not lock position. Then hit the open button on the keypad, held it for a second, let go for six seconds, held it again for a second, and then nothing, no horn.

I took it apart, tested the battery and it seems good. Is there a specific model I need to make it work on my '97 A8?

I have a 3-button remote and p/n was HL0 8P0 837 231. It also says Hella 434Mhz SFA 008 750-10.

Default What month build is your car?

Or even easier, when you open a door when the car is running, does it appear as an icon on your dash, or is it a dummy light below it?

The ones with dummy lights are the earlier build dates.

Default I think that is a wrong remote for you.

You need a four button remote. This is what I bought for my 97' FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 3

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=794798431 0&category=33723</a

Default That's what I bought; it has three buttons, lock, unlock, trunk....

I thought those were called 3 button, and the keyless like I have on the S4, which has the two buttons, just lock and unlock on the front, is a "two button"?

Default It's called four button because it has a red panic button on the side.

They all look alike, but after 02' they switched to a different system. ......I just took mine a part, FCC ID; MZ2 410 819 6 3

Default That is the one what came with my car. I bought one of these.

Don't sell it yet. Get one of these, pull it a part and change the remote so you will have the right remote with the uncut key. Then you can sell the other. If you buy a used ( cut )key it will be cheaper.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=794798431 0&category=33723</a
