1988 - 90 Black/Tan 5 Speed - TG for Poor Resale!
We only paid $18k when it was $26.5 new. My step mother bought it new and it had all the options. She went to trade it in 1993 and they would only give her $6k. I quickly offered to give her $6k for the car. I had an 89 16v Jetta. It was worth going to an older car for the leather and smooth transmission. I could never go back to a VW or average Joe car again.......
I traded up to a 93 90CS 5 Speed in Jan 96 and got a $30k car for $14k. I drove it for twenty months and sold it for $11.5. Found a twelve month old A4Q 5 Speed. It was 33k sticker with all the options, got it with 12k miles and paid $25k. Drove it for two years and sold it for $20k.
I moved up to the 528 5 speed as there was no A6 stick for a few years. Drove it for two years and then wanted to upgrade to the V8 class car. I looked at the 7 series and A8s. The Audi was about 20% less and had ALL WHEEL DRIVE, AMEN! It was a no brainer with the A8.

And it stays clean how long?
I said I'd never have another black vehicle after my 67 F100 (which I still have) but the black A8 sucked me in (to never ending cleaning and detailing, at least an hour every time, but it looks soooo good for those thirty seconds it's clean). I think my next car will be a beige 84 Escort so I can reintroduce myself to gas station car washes ;-)
