What's the best way to get a correct 0 - 60 time for the S8?....
I have a '98 S8 here in the UK, which I've had chipped to increase the bhp to about 355 bhp and to substantially increase the torque. I now want to check its performance figures and want to know from you guys what's the most accurate way to get the correct 0-60mph time (even, when timing should start from - when the lights go green, you lift your foot off the brakes, the car starts to roll forward, you first hit the accelerator, or when ?). Many thanks for your responses.
Adam and Andy - no sarcastic comments from the two of you please - I know it's a bit immature and irrelevant to know how fast a car can get to 60mph. Just humour me.

Jason, when you say 'humour me', do you mean you want me to laugh at you?
I have an idea for a more interesting statistic than 0-60 time - minimum distance you can travel on 100 GBP or 140 USD or 160 EUR of 95 octane unleaded fuel. This is the S8 drivers' equivalent of the BigMac statistic that economists love to quote - how many minutes the average person in a country takes to earn the cash to buy an average priced BigMac in that country.
You could very well be world champion at this if you drive in London traffic.

Take it Santa Pod for performance measurement

Hey Jason, when you're done 'playing' at a RWYB, come to a proper drag race meeting, and see our 6500hp Top Fuel dragster record a 0-60 time in the region of 0.9 of a second!! :-)

Thanks for the comments, guys - fat lot of use you two are! I don't fancy a trip to Santa Pod to check 0-60. I was thinking more stopwatch, A40, middle of the night. But you're right about London driving, Adam.
Andy - when's the next drag meet. I reckon my chipped S8 can take on your namby pamby rockets on wheels !!

LOL! :-) Sorry Jason, never had an auto before so can't help I'm afraid.
On the subject of drag racing, get yourself down to Santa Pod for The Main Event over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May.

Left foot firmly on the brake, right foot leaning into the gas - fill up the torque converter....
Nail the gas while completely releasing the brake as soon as the light turns....
Try to "anticipate" the light, but don't "red-light..."
Don't burn up the torque converter
Buy yourself a G-Meter.... It "stages and flashes go until you nail the gas....(take off....)
The g-force will start the clock....
Also good for measuring cornering g's, 1/4 mile times as well as 0-100-0 times....
