Default Meyle...

Give this place a call. They are pretty cheap from them. They also split up kits if you dont need the tie rod ends. Performance parts store: 1-800-246-4567, ask for Craig. You should get a pretty good deal. I think that ebay prices are around $475. Always ask for a better deal and that you were referred.

Default Meyle is aftermarket.

They're not an OEM for Audi/VW for the control arms.

Lemfoerder and Febi-Bilstein are.
If you want true OE products, those are the two manufacturers you should look for.

Meyle is aftermarket. However, Meyle has made improved versions of the OEM control arms.

Default "improved" will be left open to discussion.

All control arms will fail at some point. Some a little more catastrophically than others.

Default Were there warning sounds? For how long? A preceding crash?

I don't mind critical parts failing if they give plenty of warning. If not, that ball joint is scary.
