Default yellow engine light on

After my 99 A8 started weird, the yellow engine light came on and has stayed on. What does it mean? Is it ok to drive the car. The light is on solid and is not blinking.

Default Re: yellow engine light on

This has happened to me twice. Rough start after the car had been sitting idle for a couple of days, and the yellow light came on. Audi hooked up the VAG and came up with cylinder 1 & 3 had misfired, and the second time it was 4 & 5. Audi could not find a root cause and attributed the problem to dirty valves. They cleaned everything out using a special fluid, and the car has been running fine since then. These days I run a bottle of Techron every 3000 miles, and only use Chevron gas. Also, I realized later on that both times that this problem had occurred my fuel tank was nearly empty, and the problem could have been related to condensation. As a precaution, I always leave the car with a full tank of gas prior to a long vacation/business trip. Good luck!

Default OK to drive but you need to have the engine checked by the dealer.

If it starts flashing it is an emergency. Probably an electrical problem such as plugs, etc.
