1,400 mile trip with my new '05 A8L
Just arrived back home with my new '05. What a great trip! Averaged 24.5 MPG and got the opportunity to really work with the MMI.
Was very unhappy with the OnStar as it just would not work except for the emergency button. After 5 different calls to OnStar we finally found out that the cell vendor had limited the outgoing calls to the "local" calling area only. Finally, after getting a little grumpy with OnStar people (who were very accomodating in tracking down the problem) them they turned some switches it started to work correctly. They gave me an extra 120 minutes for free the inconvenience I experienced. I guess that's the standard humor move! Thanks, OnStar!
I was very impressed with the Adaptive Cruise Control system. Anyone doing long drives should definitely consider having it in their car. It even works well around town at speeds over 40 MPH. In heavy rain just north of Atlanta, it didn't work very well and probably shouldn't have been used anyway. Other than that it sure made my wife happy as I have a "slight" tendency to get a little too close to cars in the right hand lane that are going slower than me.
PS Gina, get well soon!

A huge Congrats!!!!!
Nice review of the adaptive cruise! As for OnStar, I wasn't even able to get local calling here in Dallas when I finally enabled it.
Are the pics in your poster of your car? If not, you *know* we want to see some ;-) I can't wait.
