1500'

1500'
I just purchased a property that includes an unused parking lot measuring 1500' long by 900' wide. I want to set up a slalom course using 100 cones spaced 10-15' apart. I know a salesman who has access to an A8 and two other guys with A8s(2002/2003) who want to participate in this mini amateur slalom.
I have several questions about setting the course. If the cones are spaced 15' apart in a straight line, what types of speed will these guys most likely be able to attain? What is the smallest cone I can use and still expect them to be able to negotiate it?
Have you done slaloms in your A8? I was just talking to a guy who said when he slaloms he will intentionally try and hit the base of each cone with out knocking it over, his aim is not just to get as close as possible but to actually clip the cone base, he says that's the way to get good times.

900' is 3x the length of a football field....
And you have 1500 in width.....If its all open you could set up one helluva an auto-x course there. 100mph is probably doable on a second lap. You have over a quarter mile of distance with the 1500 feet. About 180 feet for turn in from the quarter miles.
Next questions.... where is this and how much you gonna charge for admission. :-)
The cones should be no more then 6" in height the flimsy plastic kind are good. Use a different color cone to show the drivers where the ideal turn in points are. Man this could be fun.... :-)
