20" W12 wheels
Are any modifications needed to put the factory 20" W12 wheels with 275/35/20 rubber on a 2006 A8 SWB?
My dealer says it is a simple swap with the original 18s, and that speedometer, navigation, and other electronic data will not be effected. He also says the larger tires will fit with no rubbing problems.

Just for your reference...tire "plus sizing" does not actually increase the overall...
...diameter of the wheel/tire combo which is why no speedo recalibration needs to be done. Just be prepared for a slightly harsher ride. Also, the tires are less tolerant of curb impacts due to the lower aspect ratio. Finally, the heavier setup can make the car feel slightly more sluggish from a stop but this is doubtful will the power of our cars.
Just my 2 cents :-)

In most cases you are correct...
but with the D3 and the OEM 20" tire size is larger in diameter than the smaller offerings. The Instrument cluster is coded to identify the different diameters automatically (like the Cayenne but without user input required).

If you are interested, in Europe the '04 D3 came with a 20" wheel option and...
...255-35-20 tires (rather than 275-35-20s), a combination I have been running for 20k+ miles and that more closely approximates the stock size. The difference between the 255s and the 275s is less than 1/2 inch in diameter in the P-Zero Nero M&S I have on my car (and which I have been exceedingly satisfied with). The car has also been lowered.
