Hi thanks for everything so far
http://uberlame.com/a6_tsb/Stereo/Ra...%20degrees.pdf
I have 3,4,5,6, of those symptoms but unfortunately have bypassed the tuner with fibre link and removed from can installation run an optical bus diagnosis with ignition on tuner is removed no breaks but the problem still occurs.
Also sometimes when the clock on the dash has reset to 00.00 2003 the mmi system in settings will be showing a different date and time to the dash.

Was thinking about this a little more, and offer one more suggestion. The clicking behind the dash you first mentioned combined w/ the issues you are having suggests maybe the control head/main box for the MMI. That is indeed behind the dash. On a LHD one it is behind the glove box basically. Same on a RHD (if N.Z.) as a guess if mirror imaged. Could tie to clock too. BUT, unless you did some work there, water leaked there/down from plenum area, or you did MMI software update and it didn't go as planned, seems low probability to just go out. Not really known for that as an issue, except when one gets created by type of factors I mention. All speculative, but the part that takes the physical abuse is the MMI controller panel which of course ties right to it. In particular, if you had even one single spill of coffee, a soft drink, etc., it could be toast. Lots of failures for that over the years. Net, fielder's choice, but maybe pull the plugs on one or the other and then see. Your first scan does show an intermittent error in the control head (module 7). My experience is that one does really ever show an error; the Nav one of course does with the disk, the radio may occasionally, etc. You didn't have an error in the second scan though.

Hi just thought I would start at the beginning brought car in January our summer, had a small 70 amp hr battery in the boot and about once a week car would reset date and time and all trip computers reset inside lights and turn rear heater on car always started battery meter would go down to 60%.
In April I brought an excide din 88 from a dealer "as it was coming up our winter and did not want to have any problems re starting" and they had a Euro spec code battery, when I picked my car up after fitting it turned out that my original small battery was still there so took it back and had battery changed.
It was then that clock started reseting every time key was out took it to another euro spec said the battery was incorrect and he could not work on the car until the vw one was in place so I brought the varta and for the first 7 days everything was fine door leds would be flashing every morning, on day 8 battery for the 1st time in 6 months was flat 5.7 volts, since then the car will go flat if you donot leave a charger on it all the time.
I recoded the new battery as the code was incorrect from vw dealer and it seems to of stayed in this time have just run another scan partically cold last night -4 ice on car and forgot to plug charger in car started just.
There are different errors today,

Further to the above I find it interesting that there were no control head or can malfunctions in the last 24 hours with no charger on and the above scan is quite similar to 2 scans over 24 hours in May also while not on charge, sometimes when you connect the charger mmi date time will show year 2098 2043 etc but dash is on original date 2003 could the charger be causing errors in interface and the actual drain is something different tanks in advance.

Wait, WHERE exactly are you connecting the charger? If you are doing it straight to the battery on both terminals, right away that will not be good. You put the positive directly on the terminal, but the negative goes on that big hex/bolt shaped metal post that sticks out above the battery. If you do both sides to the battery, you are bypassing the whole battery power management system and it has no idea what charge you have.

BTW, then in turn if car has no idea what the charge is, who knows what is turning on, gets stuck on, etc. Audi D3 electronics hate flaky batteries and low charge, but indirectly if charger not attached in way I describe, it will probably be similarly flaky.

On your new scans, FWIW, basically you have the typical low battery/lights left on type codes and not much more--all the lower voltage limit exceeded the "quiesscent" ones, etc. They tell you very little, other than, well duh I have a low voltage problem. For many that means a dying battery or lights or something left on a long time; in your case though it is fresh.

Also, be sure while you are at it the little tiny single wire is also attached to the positive terminal and hasn't been broken. Also important for the power management system.

Can't offer help on clock, other than so far I would put it in the symptom category, not the direct problem. Low voltage (or battery disconnect) loses the time of day; loss of date/calendar on mine is rare, even w/ battery disconnect IIRC.

Report back on how you are connecting charger.

Hi yes charger is being connected onto hex bolt and the the tiny wire is connected to battery does not look to be stretched or damaged to where it goes into loom

Also while car is connected to charger the mmi battery meter does not seem to know as the gauge will drop even though battery is charging or fully charged and when car is started it goes back up again and yes clock is resetting straight away within a minute of turning the car off no matter what battery charge is showing.

BTW my car is RHD and clicking noise in dash I should of mentioned is instrument cluster side vw had dash out checking loose wires etc and other mechanic had interface disconnected with optic ring in place and batt still discharged.

Have spent the last few months reading all forums re a8 batt discharge and my symptoms don't seem to be like a lot of the others passenger door antenna r135 comes up occasionally could this be restarting the system reason I ask is the first time batt went completely flat I had washed the car the day before but not used it next morning with new batt that had been fine for 7 days no charger led door locks still flashing was flat 5.7 volts and this was the first time in 6 months the car had a flat battery thanks in advance.

Got it. So you are charging correctly and the other items seem in order around battery.

Agreed on passenger door antenna. It was about the only thing that showed up in newest scan that seemed like it might prevent car from going to sleep.

Is there any way to turn off disconnect for testing before replacement, also with the fuses inside the doors I wanted to check them with a dmm which be a long process to see if any have power going through them for the minute or so car is in sleep mode with the boot you close the lock with the doors closing the catch does nothing and there are no buttons on the pillar to hold down how do I get the car to believe the doors are shut if I pull the 7.5 amp no 39 fuse out the lights go out in the doors but interior lights do not and I can see with vag that doors are open which will prevent it from sleeping I assume.
