A8 D3 55 plate, bit long - SORRY!

When pressing the user button in the car menu, it pauses for a couple of seconds, then displays a message 'Transmission error' , 'Please try again'

My dealer hasn't a clue and just charged me £135 plus vat to send a DIS report to audi...

Not overly confident in the dealers ability, I had them change my Parking module from a rev.A to a rev.C - i supplied the module - bought from their parts dept, they charged me £40 fir fitting and removed component protection then left a note saying my vehicle doesnt support the optical (graphical) display. Nothing they can do will make it work...

I just purchased a real vag-com and changed the coding as per this forum somewhere and noticed my MMI so far out of date (0770). I call dealer and was told there are no updates to buy, just tried to sell be a new Navi DVD for loads of money.

I 'found' the 4 updates and went from 0770 to 2120 > 3460 > 4220 > 5150..

All updates went fine with no errors, here is where it gets strange...

I re did the coding to get back the battery display after 3460 (known issue) and rebooted MMI.

All displays had defaulted to European, i.e KM for milage and KM's left on fuel etc etc BUT User functions all came back. I could see - edit the 4 users and the 'Standard User' profile

Drove to parents and stopped for about 2 hours, when I came out, all displays had gone BACK to MPH , Miles etc etc and the USER button is not working again, with the same error...

ANY IDEAS - HELP!!!!!
