2006 Audi A8L steering seems a bit weak or loose at high speed
Hi everyone!
I am loving every bit of my A8L, however since I drive alot on the highway and other roads with 50-80mph on average, i feel that the A8L steering is not centered and there is little movement in the steering, as a result my car moves or difts out of the lane slightly and i have to constantly move the steering back and forth a little to keep car straight. I have a Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti, and those cars have more feedback and centered steering. Any comments?? Do you think my servotronic power steering is not working properly? Please advise.
Thanks,
Tej

I have a similar experience when suspension is in automatic or comfort mode at highway speed, but...
...re-setting to dynamic mode, I find, plants the car down more and better centers the steering for me. What setting have you found this in?

Re: I found the same characteristics when NOT in dynamic!
Wow, but I thought on the highway, the car will automatically go down by a little above 75mph and that the servotronic steering should tighten up a little bit at higher speed, but it seems like it does not. I will try the dynamic setting, for now, thanks guys. I am usually in the automatic mode, since that when i park my car in the garage or at the parking lot at work, the front bumper does not touch the cement blocks place in the front of the car. I hope the dynamic will work or I may get my steering checked out at the dealer. let me know any more comments and feelings about the steering. I love this car soo much, and I just want to make sure everything is working fine.
Thanks,
Dave

As with the majority of Audis
There is a dead spot in the steering. Dynamic should help at higher speeds, but like you said with Automatic is should lower above 75mph. Just to make sure, you must stay above 75 as indicated in the MFI - not the speedo - as it reads low, for at least 30 seconds. Although is SHOULD have slightly better feedback, there is not much negative camber in the front suspension of our cars. It might not be an option for you, but as fallen suggested, lowering the car will dramatically increase feedback as it adds in more negative camber to the front axles.

WOOOHOOO!!! ITS SO MUCH BETTER! THANKS GUYS!
I put my car in dynamic mode, and the steering feels more stiffened at high speed and around town, and the ride does not suffer much as I thought it would. The car looks amazing at dynamic setting! Now, time for tints!!!
Take care y'all
