2006 engine start stop switch upgrade
 

Well technically not really an upgrade, it’s the only part the dealer sells.
The original part was replaced by this one.
I got this online much cheaper from a dealer in manhattan.
Also replaced my shifter slide trim.

i also took the time to admire my handy work for my short shifter mod. No lathe, filed by hand, and using a Dremel.

Today when I started the car for the first time, I got a parking brake malfunction error.


I had unplugged the parking brake switch while the key was on.

After being annoyed because I just started a long trip and hate staring at the error message the whole time.

I stopped to to drop someone off, cycled the engine and the parking brake. Then I stopped to get gas, also shut car off and used the parking brake.

Next time I started it the message has not reappeared. 👍

Got to love Audi control systems, self sensing and adjusting :)

You can use clear protective film to prevent the "ENGINE START" button from chipping
