Default has anyone had strut failure at 60-80 K ?

Mine came at 130 K, and I just assumed all the failures come after many miles...like 100 K. But the dealer tells me the 59 K 06 I just bought has leaking struts that wont pump up at all.

And thats after they put on a new compressor and relay. I have not been back to see the car again for myself, but I am wondering if its been seen before (failure that early I mean) ?

My 09' has some temperature related issues with the fronts. As soon as cooler night temperatures (or day temps) started I noticed the fronts would "air out". Mostly the left front, but the right front was noticeable as well. I started noticing this towards the autumn months, about 63K on the clock. Sounds like your issue is a bit more severe. Hopefully it won't be too costly.

How many leaking struts does the dealer say it has? If multiple, you should get a second opinion. Were struts not pumping up when purchased?
A compressor, relay and two struts from dealer sounds like 7500.00 or so out the door. Ouch.

Have heard of it in travels around the various forums, but pretty rare.

Basic rundown on what I've heard:
100+ = Worry
150+ = Worry a lot
>150 = **** pants

Front left had a massive leak at 129,000 miles for me. The other three original struts/dampers (Now with 215,000 miles on the clock) are still working.

Right front for me at 60K mi, on an 06. So it may be age as much as it is miles, mine was 8 years old holding up a very heavy front end.

Left front on my 2008 S8 at about 72,000 miles. I bought new Audi strut on internet for about $695 and Audi installed them.
