450 horses isn't enough for you then lol...??!

Hp

No no its not. Would you happen to know how much hp the internals can handle before having to switch to forged internals? Ive checked all over google and cant find the answer

Not something I've ever needed to know, sorry... :(
Now, if you wanna know anything about the Ford CVH engine, i can tell you everything...!!
This is my first Audi...
Probably my last as well..............

I know it's a tough motor but I don't think anyone can give you numbers. As far as I have seen, the consensus is that if you want a faster car, buy a D4 with the 4.0t. Even the standard car with that motor is a lot faster than the S8. If you want to stick with that V10 for the wonderful sound it makes, I understand, but there really seams to be a very small number modified, there is very little aftermarket support. Check the S6 forum, they have the same motor, they might have an answer.

Just bolt a couple of turbos or a supercharger to it and see what happens...

Are any of the parts interchangeable with the V10 from the Lambo...?? Just out of interest....
I know the percentage of parts the same is only around 20%, I've no idea what that 20% is made up of tho...

V10 5.0 from older Lambo is different. Different bore centers, different crank set up, wet vs. dry sump, etc. 5.2 Lambo that came later (and with R8) may be closer.

There are a couple of hand built equal length long tube headers made for the S6. Prototype headers for the S8 are being developed as we speak. Rumor is a supercharger kit is in the works.
JHM is the go too for the V10s. They have a tune, catback exhaust (2.75") and light weight crank pulley.

Right now I gutted my cats and am building a 3" X pipe exhaust. Should be done end of the week. Hoping to get the new JHM calibration end of this year or early next year.

But yes 450 hp in a 4600+ lb car is not fast.

The best MPH ran by a V10 S8 so far has been 108 mph. That was with stock cats, tune, 3" exhaust.. Approx 4800 total weight, thats about 460 hp.
My goal is 110 mph in the qrtr. That just a hair shy of 500 crank horsepower.
I would ideally like to have 520 n/a horse power. 1hp/liter :D But that won't happen with stock exhaust manifolds. crap design for power (good for quick cat warmup).

Ah, so basically, it's different block and crank setup then... Altho it does say 'based on'...
They managed to get another 75 horses out of it for the R8:

Audi AG unveiled the Audi R8 V10 on December 8, 2008.[29] It uses a 5.2 litre FSI
engine,[2] based on the unit in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 (which in turn was based on the 5.2 FSI V10 as used in the Audi C6 S6 and Audi D3 S8), but is re-tuned to produce a power output of 532 PS (391 kW; 525 bhp), and generate 530 N⋅m (391 lbf⋅ft) of torque.[2]
