Has anyone came up with plug that can be used on newer iPhone to replace monster size phone charger in center tray? Looks easy to remove and add thin rubber mat with plug for newer phone. Ideas or thoughts?

Waste of time is the net. If you go to eBay UK you can actually find cradles that fit in there for iPhone 4, then 5S and so on. Might even be newer ones now. Troubles are 1. just as that info implies, every time Apple revs the phone, the size changes slightly. Thus, another new adapter needed. 2. The adapter locks phone in there and doesn't tie to car except through bluetooth--hich itself means you need a mid 2005 or newer to even have Bluetooth. At that point it is nothing but a glorified charging stand. The better use of the space would have been what they did in D4--just put the AMI cord there (under armrest area) for a music device. Could be your phone, which then charges, but a dedicated player makes more sense for everyday practicalities. D5 will have wireless charging (plus the connectivity) as that comes of age, so yet more sensible.

Thanks. Yes, basically looking for just charger. I would like to use existing plugin that is used and just insert cable through slot in current tray. I will design my own "plug" for the cable and tray. (love 3D printing!)
