To the question in your reply title about what wrench, FWIW on W12 I used crowsfoot--the open end you attach to a socket extension and drive. Even with almost no clearance side to side, it worked easily for me on W12. There are also similar quasi socket ones with a slit to pass through the connector cable. Those look like the end of a brake wrench that wraps most of the hex. And yep I remember on my 5V A6 4.2 literally climbing on top of the motor and sitting on manifold crouched under the hood while reaching down blind to get to O2 sensors. Pain in butt, literally. Later found it was a piece of cake...if cylinder head is removed first...

I have BFM in Nevada. Thanks for the info, I'll go through it in the morning. When I initially did the readiness the other day I got scared when it indicates to floor the throttle and the computer will limit to 2k rpm. It went past 3, so I held it steady at 2.
Seems like each time the code was cleared, it took 25 miles of driving to have the code come back.

Yes, this looks like the B2S1 sensor to me. This diagram helped me I.D. the correct sensor as well. Hope this helps.

D3 oxygen sensor driver side upstream.

D3 driver side oxygen sensor. Wrench on.

Old vs. New

Install was just over 30 min. Now to clear the code and get smogged.

Where did you find the connectors for the o2 sensor connectors?
