A8L Rear Backup Cam and Remote V-1 .... DONE!
Long day, but done. Very slick once finished.
Equipment ties into the DVD/Nav system, is wired through the rear to the backup lights (voltage is stepped down to avoid check-engine or other faults), mounted to the decklid underside. Yes, it's noticeable, but once my guys turn it white it should be less obvious.
When the vehicle is in reverse, the normal sensors are still working audibly, but the visual is the screen with full color and crystal clear vision. Images don't show up well in these photos.
V-1 is mounted high and just beside mirror, where the rear-facing antenna still have plenty of sight backwards, and the remote display is perfectly located below the hazard button, above the a/c controls.

WOW! The backup Cam is impressive!
More than once my sensors have beeped to tell me something's behind me and I've wished I could 'see' what it was. (usually just a speed bump or curb, but I'd hate to take out the neighbor's cat!) yikes!
I think the position of the valentine might bug me, but I have issues with anything being in my line of sight when I'm driving. I'm also not a huge fan of radar detectors - the only time we used one, Randy got nailed for speeding...yep, worked great!

Re: How'd you get it into the MMI? With a TV tuner?
The equipment includes an interface that ties into the MMI/DVD/Nav system. That is why the glovebox is shown removed. There are various inputs/aux features, including DVD Video if you want it (we passed). The camera unit ties into the brains of this separate control module, then into the MMI.

Re: That's a real clean install....check the link in my sig for the next step for you V1!
Did you see the V-1 Remote display on the installation finished pic? Works very well there, and yes, it would be nice in matching leather, but for now, it is just what the doc ordered.
