A8L Roof Rack Install - Torque Wrench
Anybody have any insight into how the torque wrench included with the OEM A8 roof rack is supposed to work?
The instructions say that the arrows on the wrench handle have to be aligned. Far as I can tell, the wrench works the same whether the arrows are aligned or not. I'm looking for something to snap or release when I exceed the indicated force, but
when I go to tighten the bolts as directed in the instructions, they seem to tighten to the limits of my strength (which, even in old age, is more than 6 nm).

I just keep tightening mine without aligning the arrows. I go about 80% then tighten the other side 80% and then finish up. I've never had any problems even with a loaded Packasport on top.

It does work for me per the instructions
The two arrows do line up when it seems snug. I did carefully align the rack base angles on a used A8 rack I bought before the wrench seemed to work optimally. There is no click or anything like on a standard torque wrench.

DOH!
Oh, the arrows line up when it's snug!
I got the impression from the directions (fail) that I was supposed to align the arrows BEFORE twisting, and I was waiting for a snap or a pop.
Thanks a bunch.
