Default About to buy some wheels, need help please

Hello all,
New to the forum since am a new owner of a 2004 A8L. The car came with the stock wheels and winter tires that look hideous and sound even worse. I came across a set of 20" wheels off a S5 (pics attached) on CL that have 255/30 R20 on them. Will they fit and if so will i need to change out the tires?

Thanks in advance!

The wheel size will fit. What I am unsure about is the offset.

You need the offset of the rims you are buying. I'm not sure of the D3's factory offset, but it can be either found online or I'm sure someone here can chip in.

No, It is not, that is the lug nut bolt pattern, you need the offset number, like "stock 12 spoke rims are 19x8.5 with a +45 offset".

S5 wheels come with much more aggressive offset like +25 range. They will fit and work but will come out all the way to the fender lip. You just need to get the actual offset of the wheels. I have seen +25 fit but I think that is the most offset in a 9 inch wheel.

The tires are too small, you will need tires in size of 275/35R20

+1

If you ran rubber like that on an A8, you'll damage your rims easily. Not to mention the poor ride quality and handling.

FWIW, I don't think this is the S5 offset. The RS5 yes, but that is a more aggressive body/flare set up. I think the S5's are more like 33--slightly more aggressive than D4 at ET37. Given spacer fitments on D3, it could easily handle a ET33 type wheel front or back. ET26 would push it a bit much by a 275.

Not mentioned here so far, but A5/S5 are also the first Audis where the center hole size when up to 66mm from the prior 57ish from D3 era. Thus for OP, you would also need hub centric rings to fit these. People do the same when using D4 wheels. The tires are wrong for a D3 as others have mentioned. Your best take off wheels for a D3 are probably A7/S7 FWIW; then the tire size will basically line uo to the D3 at 265/35-20, which was the D3 S8 fitment. Still would need the hub centric rings.
