Sounds good. Hopefully after my mechanic diagnoses the problem, I won't have to go that route.

Unfortunately, it is the overwhelmingly likely problem. The rest of the suspension is reliable, and your symptoms fit a leaky strut perfectly. The bright side is that he should only charge you 1 hour's labor on the repair, it's very simple.

The scan doesn't tell us anything new, that fault just means the car is too low, a product of the probable strut failure.

It's in the forums a hundred times, but I will say it again anyway, you can diagnose it yourself if it is a strut. Park the car at night in jack mode, not to be confused with lift mode, and see which corner lost the most height. The side that drops first or the most has the bad strut. The sway bar will pull the good side down with it, but it lags behind the bad one. The only other possibility is the valve block, but that is unusual.

The absolute best replacement strut/damper is the OE Continental-Teves part. Buy from a dealer. No worries about a clunking "rebuilt" strut that you have to R&R again or a replacement air bag that may leak etc. The Arnott new versions without the dampening feature can't be nearly as good as the real thing. Plus, if you only replace one the ride will be different side to side.I know the shock has different valving but try disconnecting your electrical connector to one strut and drive the car. Big difference. You will have a warning light but plug it back in and restart the car and the light will go out.

Speaking of, some have reported the dashboard warning light staying on with the Arnott strut despite it having a bypass circuit.

Why waste time? As I get older, time is more valuable to me....

I finally had to replace the Driver's side front one last week with 289.000 miles on the clock on my '04.. The passenger side one only lasted aboot(sic) 150,000 miles.
Confirmed it's my passenger side strut. I will be going the new route. Time for the credit card to be put into action! Thanks.

Why is it always the passenger side that goes first. I blamed my wife for her weight and she's much less weight than me LOL.
Cheers,
Louis
