Air suspension issue
Good afternoon all. I recently purchased a 2006 Audi A8 with 88k miles. I purchased it knowing it had a suspension issue.
The car is sitting slammed on all 4 sides.
Initially we rebuilt the compressor because it was working. However, that did not raise that car. We checked for leaks and have not found any so far. We then thought possibly there is a blockage in the valve block, so we replaced it. When we were undoing the lines on the valve block, you could hear the lines purging. However, with the new block did not help. At which point I decided to give it to a shop to diagnosis the issues. After checking for leaks he wanted to calibrate the suspension, but he said the pump would shut off and therefore could not continue with the calibration. So he stated that I needed a new air compressor prior to being able to move forward. So I drove the car home, never checking again to see if the pump was working and just installed a pump from Suncore Industries. After the install the pump did not turn on. I took the plugs off the new one and installed them on the old pump and that too did not turn on. I then changed the pump relay and tried again and neither pump turned on.
I ran direct power to the old pump since it was out and the pump does turn on. I have not ran direct power to the new pump.
What could be the issue? Is there a fuse I should be checking?
Any assistance would be great!
Thanks!

As I recommend get a VCDS unit or a scan from someone local to see what errors are coming up.
Fuses for self leveling system per attached.
This is from a 2005, but should be same or similar to the 08.
Fuse 10 right dash fuse holder. Page 10 of attached
Fuse B behind instrument panel above the relays page 16
05 a8L 4.2 fuse layout

Read the ssp on suspension in my suspension post. What causes the system to turn off the pump?
If you're going to blindly replacing parts, check out all the system components and start replacing one after the other.
My recommendation is to put back the original parts you'd replaced, they may be better than the one you used.
Cheers and good luck,
Louis

I'm currently waiting for my VCDS to show up.
I would put the original parts back in, but if both pumps are actually working. Then its most likely an electrical problem. Hopefully the VCDS helps.

Haha sometimes too brave. It was a purchase from an auction, I figure I give it a shot.
I have seen many of your YouTube videos, I appreciate them!
I wanted a new daily driver, so the A8 caught my attention.
I'm hoping for the best, but worst case I just sell the vehicle if I have to put too much into it. I do majority of all my own repairs on all my cars.
Let the countdown begin, VCDS should show up on the 16th!

I believe there are 4 scenarios that the pump is turned off or not activated.
1. You're in Jack Mode.
2. The relay and the fuse under the dash are faulty.
3. The valve block tells the controller the tank is full and the difference between the shocks and tank is optimized.
4. The controller sensed the pump temperature is too hot.
If someone has more, please chime in.
Cheers,
Louis

How would you go about fixing if its #3 or #4?
As for #1 and #2, I have already checked all the fuses. I will check today about jack mode, but it has been grayed out for the most part.
