Default AMI and MMI 2 High

Anyone who knows if a ipod touch will work with a A8 D3 MMI 2G high with a Audi music interface? I cant find a ami cable with lightning connection for 2G High operation, only usb. I know there is aftermarked devices but when possible i stick to the original.

Also, is there any upgrades to be done to have the Cd unit to automaticly show artist and track name? I have the 5570 software installed and believe that is the last they issued.

On my 08’ A8 I retrofitted the AMI. The AMI unit came with a 30pin(old iPhone/iPod) style cable plugged in already. I bought a 30pin to lightning adapter from the apple store and now I can plug my iPhone X to it without issues. Hope this answers your issue?

Just what i needed to know I am about to buy a AMI and need it to work with a ipod touch. Do you have track info in the MMI? Also, do you have track info from your Cd changer, mine i can enter manually and that is the same as i dont bother but would be a nice thing to have. Looking around, it might be an upgrade software for the cd changer around to do this, my MMI has the latest 5570 update from Audi.

Best regards,
Steve

Yes with my AMI I get track info in my cluster and my MMI display screen. I believe it was the same with my CD changer.

If you’re planning on buying a Bluetooth adapter for the AMI to not have to fiddle with the wire then you’ll have to purchase a WMA1000 or WMA3000. WMA1000 is for MMI 2G and WMA3000 is for MMI 3G.

3 different model Audis, 3 old ipods, 3 AMIs, 5-10 years depending on which one it is, zero known car battery issues. Add to it a Golf R in last few years w/ essentially AMI. IIRC the charge part of it goes away with ignition/stereo off, but does charge it when running. Honestly, it just sits there working a year at a time unless I pull it out to update the tunes library or iOS or something.

There is a factory cable to get from MMI to Lightning. If you have the later MMI software (I'm in USA so versions are different), you can display album art too IIRC. That likewise takes a later cable. Early ones (and probably the 30 pin like I first had) won't do it. Artist and track name did show for me as of the (not well thought out) 4140 USA MMI upgrade. It was of course also in the final USA 4610 version.
