Default Another valve cover gasket question

Hey guys! l've been lurking for 2 years now, I usually don't post questions because I use the search button heavily. I am glad this is a very mature and knowledgeable crowd. I am very familiar with automotive forums for the past 15 years as a previous member of zilvia.net and nicoclub.com, ka-t.org in my old 240sx days, Now that I finally registered here comes my first question....... I recently did the valve cover job on my 2007 audi a8 the problem I have is that it still leaks ! Even worst, from the back cylinder on the driver side the one closest to the firewall, one thing I noticed was that the valve cover gasket was different than the one I was removing. I had to cut off a piece for it to fit, I attached a picture to show what I had to cut for the gasket to fit. My question is has anyone ever had to cut the valve cover gasket to make it fit?

Did you get the gasket from Audi or from somewhere else?

Yes it was a genuine audi part from genuineaudipart.com, also ive looked the part picture on google and they are all the same as the one I received for that part number, basically I would have to cut them to fit my valve cover. anybody with experience on this?

I assume there is a difference between 06 & 07 gaskets, because the one i just did was not a 1 piece unit. The spark plug gaskets were separate from outer perimeter gasket.

also, did you use sealant on the block and the gasket?

I'm also fighting a leak, but believe my leak is due to a stripped bolt which is not torqued down enough.

Yes the 2007+ A8 fsiengine and the valve cover gaskets are very different. The more I read online, I think Audi changed the design of the driver side valve cover on the 2007+ A8's. Ive read a few post of people going to the Audi dealership to get the driver side valve cover gasket replaced and the dealership required that the valve cover should be replaced as well?
