Yes, excellent solution. Although I’m not sure I’d trust myself to not screw it up. I have very little experience working with electronics on a component level basis so I don’t think I have the skillset to do it.

A “how to” video for dummies like me would be very useful!

this will work but it almost seems like as much work as finding the fault on the current board. I shall try tomorrow and let you know

You might get lucky, but installing that will very likely give you unresolvable CP problems, as well as other glitches. Running the MMI update won’t make any difference unfortunately as this is something that’s apparently hard coded.

This is the one I rec'd. Has a additional port there ( I think someone said camera) but not sure what is my next move - try to heat-in that EPROM chip or ??
What is the part that goes out on these?? Is it the big uF capacitor?

I plugged in the new module and everything works! ...except radio and cd sound .

On initial boot-up it was working but then boom, went off. The radio /CD menus work fine, just no sound.

Nav works
Suspension works
Screen up/down works.
I'll log into VCDS to see what's up

Yep component protection is active. Also says needs the adaptation.

OK do I use the heat gun trick - or dealer it? I tried the heat gun and pulled the chip already...

PS: My energy management or battery module is toast/not responding. Dang. Might have to trade this thing in for something more reliable like a Maserati Quattroporte crica 2007
