Default Audi 2007 (D3?) Steering Column switch

It seems my steering column adjustment will not work. I tried everything and it wont budget. Before I take it apart, does anyone have any idea/experience with a similar issue on an 07 a8L?

Default Uh oh,. Uh oh, Uh Oh....

I have the same issue on my '05. Always have had. It will not move and the convenience feature is disabled. I've tried to think of all sorts of solutions, as mine is stuck in the wrong position for me (too low).
I was going to try and access the multi-plugs for the two motors, to try and apply voltage, and just move it to where I wanted it to be, but never got to. That D4 all star, Jakematic, sent me the steering column TSB's, but I didn't get to them yet.
I have now bought a spare complete steering column, but I'm happy to help us both get this worked out.

DO YOU HAVE VCDS??? If so, please post a scan of the car, most important. If you don't have it, getting access to it is really the first step for you IMO.

take it easy,

K9

Ya, I am in the process of getting the HEX CAN Vag. I have the KII USB and will be needing the newer version (based on what I have read here). Once I have the new cable Ill do a scan. I was going to take about the bottom of the steering column housing to see if its something dumb like a split wire. Ill keep you posted and really appreciate the reply. Im excited to get into this car. (this is my first post in the audi forums...i was previously a VW Treg guy.

Default OK, but don't forget there's an airbag under there...

Have a search for spare steering columns on Ebay, that way you'll see where the plugs are, in case you just want to move it. It is separately fused, in the drivers side dash end fuse panel, so check that.
Keep in touch,

Default Be sure to check (with VCDS)...

...that the Electric Steering Column Adjustment is enabled. (I'm trying to think of inexpensive solutions here...).

Channel [16] Steering Wheel Electronics coding should have a numeral 1 in the 3rd position from the left.

Hope it's that simple.

Carry on...

Default Holy crap dude!

I hope so! I'll buy you a bottle of what ever you choose (within reason...) if that's the problem... but here's my VCDS scan for that part....

"02510 - Steering Column Adjustment
014 - Defective
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 01101110
Fault Priority: 3
Fault Frequency: 21
Reset counter: 11
Mileage: 0 km

We're getting warmer. What is the actual coding for 16? You've posted the Fault portion, but not the coding. (Unfortunately, I think the Fault Code portion may trump my idea of a simple coding issue. But, for what it's worth...)

It would be from the upper section, before the Fault Code - This is a scan of my channel 16:

Address 16: Steering wheel Labels: 4E0-910-549.lbl
Part No SW: 4E0 910 549 HW: 4E0 953 549 A
Component: Lenksäulenmodul H13 0040
Coding: 0012241 (The 1 in the 3rd position from the left "turns it on")
Shop #: WSC 02313 785 00200
VCID: E5CB39242C0E9830323

Part No: XXXXXXXXXXX
Component: Lenkradmodul H05 0080

No fault code found. (This is where your fault data comes into play)

The bummer is, now that you've posted fault info, it seems to indicate an issue with the module itself, not an inexpensive coding issue as I was hoping. I'm afraid I may be all wet on this one.

Carry on...

I have read this goes faulty so often I have disabled the convenience option for fear of it stopping in the wrong position. It's a bit pathetic for something to be so common to break yet does so little and is used so infrequently!
