No worries.
There is a thread on here about these already I think. As I understand it, there are drive belts that move the column around, and if the tension on those goes even slightly out of parameters, the column goes into 'fail' mode...
I actually bought a spare column, as much as anything else to use for spare motors if that was the issue....

I'll try to attach the TSB's on here:
Like I said, my car is laid up for the winter. I was sent these by a very kind source close to Audi. I haven't actually read them all through yet:

im going to order the part for the steering column angle sensor. Anyone done the change themselves? Seems pretty straightforward after I have reviewed the details of pulling apart the steering column. I have the audi tech software so Im pretty confident...but...anyone ever change this part? Ive never pulled apart an airbag unit before, so while I have all the details in the service manuals...thought I would ask around too.

Im not sure if it has a clock spring. It looks like a part that slides over the steering shaft and has an electrical connection. However, to get it replaced requires disassembling the steering wheel and column.

If it is item number 4 than it doesn't require disassembling of the column. Only steering wheel, including airbag.
That is not too complicated. Disconnecting battery is a smart precaution when dealing with airbags. Besides that there are just two Torx screws holding the airbag, accessible from behind the wheel when it is turned for 90°. You don't need to take them out when unscrewed. Be careful with those harnesses.
For the wheel you need a triple square key. Can't remember which one but Alan key 3/8 fits in there too. It is just not the right one. Mark the wheel position, or strait it before you take it off. You also need a small very long and thin Torx screwdriver in order to disassemble plastic cover.
To take the clockspring out you have to unhook black clips (check on the new part). Be careful with electrical contacts when you attach new clockspring. Especially the top right one. It is for the airbag and if it is not properly attached you will have airbag warning.
