Audi MMI Computer turns on and off
Hello, I bought a 2006 Audi A8 that has a computer issue where if I push some buttons on it that the screen will show the logo for a few seconds and turn back off. It says "Audi MMI Entertainment" I believe but the screen goes black afterwards.
Could someone please be so kind to help give me some ideas as to what the issue is and perhaps any information on how to repair it. I would greatly appreciate it.

The Control Head has an optical loop that goes to each MMI device one after another. If:
a) One of the devices fails and breaks the loop
b) The loop cable itself is 'broken'
then a complete loop is not formed and the MMI system says 'I'm Not Playing' and goes to sleep [Black screen].
A VCDS scan of the car is a good starting point to see what's there and what's not working ...

'TWIY', you need to understand that the buttons and screen connect electrically to the MMI Computer aka Control Head aka Interfacebox.

Fix the issue by buying a fiber optic loop for $11.99 on amazon here is the link

I trouble shooting the problem by using the loop one by one in each module in the truck on the driver side. Eventually it was the DVD Navigation Reader and BAM my MMI turned on and started playing the radio. Hope this helps someone out there.
