Default Battery drain (suspect it's door handles)

Hi there,

I've got battery drain on my A8 (D3). It's draining about 0.5 volts overnight. I suspect it's the door handles. Anyone know if there's a way to find out for sure before I go to the trouble of removing door linings to disconnect it replace?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

In my opinion, when a doorhandle fails it will keep the car from going to sleep.
so when your lights in the gear selector and the warning light knop stays lit, than the door handle is a possible suspect.

I have this issue too. Driver door handle. Intermittently will not be able to lock/unlock. Get codes for no communication with door handle. Just hasvent had time to open it up and dig in. May be loose connection, but suspect its door handle sensor problem
I believe there was a pot at one point saying you could swap just the sensor..

I'll get VCDS plugged in next week and see what we can find. To be honest I'm thinking about just disconnecting the handles as I've heard they're around £250 each and I'm happy to click the key to open the car.

will that work? Or willt eh handle jsut 100% stop responding? Because sometimes I can't lock or unlock that door. the handle has no connection to the actual lock mechanism at times

That's a good question. It was a mechanic friend that suggested it might be an option. If anyone knows the answer would be great to hear.
