Default only if it has some capability to stop crow bars and pistol fire.....

and keeping some heat out.

Default Sound deadening, two layers worth of factory tint and more break resistant

A few very high end cars may actually put something in the laminated sandwich like a solar type film, but not in the Audi or most other double pane set ups.

Have it on mine. Really like the quiet of the car.

Probably not much, but the sound deadening is significant to me.

Default Rented a Buick Lucerne recently...

Base model as it had no satellite radio equipped with cloth seats and V6 engine. But it did have dual pane glass! Very quiet, nice ride. Very similar to my A8L. Only a V6 but I did get 26 MPG and never had any concerns when I pushed the pedal to merge onto freeways.

Not as much leg room in back but the front room was darn near what the A8 has. Only complaint from the Mrs. was that the seats hurt her back. Driver, Passenger and rear seat as well.

Perhaps some insulation value re: retaining interior heating/cooling.

Default My A8L doesn't have double pane glass?

My old S-Class did ( it was a 96 model ), Does the W12 come with double pane glass, or is it an option?

Default Significant benefits...

Huge noise reduction that is instantly recognized. Increased reduction of UV impact. Cooler in warm temperatures. Warmer in cold temperatures.

Enhanced security. My S8 suffered an attempted break in via the drivers-side glass last year. I never took any pictures, but we counted 22 blows to the glass and the hole was no bigger than a 1/2" in diameter. It clearly kept my car from being entered.

$820 to fix.

For the nominal cost this is a great upgrade.

Default As SMA8L says:

It is an amazingly low priced option for what it offers.

I can't believe Audi does not make it standard on the A8 line.
