Default A/C cabin filter

Hi folks,
I have 2 questions;

1- How often should the A/C Cabin filter replaced?
2- Where is the filter located, it that easy accessable? And how Do I repalce it?

Thanks a lot,
A.

I'm not sure how often it should be changed, but once you start the Heater/AC an there is a Musty smell that means its time for a change.. which is what i do an did.

Top center under your hood, its like almost a square shape with 4 twist screws (plastic) the filter is right under it.
This is a rubber seal along the bottom of the cabin filter location, lift an remove.

The 2 plastic pieces on each side just lift an remove, after that the Cabin filter comes out, replace it an reverse the process..

Just wanted to comment and say what an amazing demonstration you did. More people should upload pics demonstrating their process. Keep it up!

Pictures speak Louder than words..

When i can remember to take pics while I'm working, cause sometimes I get caught up in the moment an completely forget to take pics.

I also came from a forum that supplied plenty of pics an write ups, it wasn't for Audi cars..

Default Time/service interval is...

every other oil cycle basically, aka every two years. 15K miles, 35K, 55K, etc.

If you want to go cheap, just blow out with air hose in reverse w/ the filter out of the car. That won't renew the embedded carbon charcoal though.for odor control. A nuance is to figure it is more a function of hours the car is on and dustry conditions. Lots of high speed miles in clean areas won't be the same as lots of low speed miles and/or in dirtier areas.

The filters are sold on line by the sites that favor Audis in the $40ish range. Not that different than what I pay for the Toyota, and the Toyota filter quality is like a mid 90's Audi C4. D3 filter is quite robust and with good surface area overall.

Thanks for your reply,
in deed it was very simple. I bought the OEM part from autohaus arizona online the instructions were actually in the box.
The old filter was pretty beatup although it was not smelly!

Thanks again,
A.
