Default Car making whining noise
After the dealer fix my waterpump and thermostat. I have this whining noise. I have no clue what it is. The sound goes with the rpm's. As the gears shift and the rpm's drop the noise get lower. A friend said it sounds like the alternator is going bad. Any Ideas.

If service person set the cam belt tension "too high" belt will whin. Noise increases with engin RPMs.

Did that on my 97 A8, sounded like a supercharger.....but it went away....after about 14 months.
