Thanks Louis.....guess coming over to Audiworld to research my control arms was a good thing, find a thread like this. I spent more time trying to understand the whole thing instead of just doing it.

Because the link to your web page was posted as HMTL vs. the site software, here it is again as a link:

I always wrap everything in hockey tape, won't make noise or get cut.

I went over to Fry's local to me and picked it up.....but really any relay will do, any relay from an old Audi or DME relay for a Porsche.....but here is a link:

https://frys.com/product/8008094?sit...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Mine was basically the same relay, but had a metal mounting bracket that was removable. You could go to any auto parts store and just pick one up. Just looked at autozone.com, and here is one that they have in stock at the local store:

https://www.autozone.com/electrical-...ors/548657_0_0

And I have one issue with my install, the trunk closing helper latch is stuck in the "closed" position, so the trunk goes up and down, but doesn't latch.....so now I have to figure out how to get it synched again. Even if I move the latch on lid to the closed position, then hit the switch on the trunk or the remote, the bottom closing helper is stuck in the "closed" position.....don't know what caused this, but hopefully I can easily get them synch'd again.

Here is a picture of the position mine is in. Will go look at it in a few minutes.

BTW, the emergency latch screw also sheared when I couldn't get it loose. Now the emergency latch cable does not seem to be hooked up any longer.....so this might have something to do with the issue.

Well....went out and looked into it....obviously something went wrong during the relay installation.....and the trunk assist close motor shut or open when it shouldn't have and sheared the plastic gears inside the motor. So I will replace it...sometimes I wish I would of left good alone vs. making it better!

;-)

Do you think this was because of the relay mod, or just a wear and tear coincidence?
