window film for tinting on my soon to arrive 2008. What if anything should I be aware of, or concerned about in either case?

Confirm the tint shop will take the work
I checked into Huper Optik in Bay Area. Local shop (Fremont) won't tint rear window on a D3 unless both headrests AND rear deck are removed. I know about the headrests--and took care of it per other posts--but the deck was a new one. It takes a fair amount of disassembly to get that deck out. Looking at it, indeed I can see where several inches of the deck are directly behind the glass where they would have trouble getting the film cleanly down in there. I know people have gotten them tinted, but I think shops are getting hipper that D3's aren't easy. Shop will do the sides of course w/out complaint.

Paint should be at least 30 days old before applying protection film. Be sure the shop is an authorized 3M dealer. I have it on the hood of my A4. It still looks good after 8 years.
