Considering a D3 A8L purchase
Looking at purchasing a D3 A8. I am not new to Audi's (Currently own 3), but this is my first venture into this platform. Looking for some advice on purchasing. Did a google search and came up with a few things to look for: Air suspension issues, MMI screen, rear power trunk, FSI motor related maintenance (carbon clean, HPFP's). Role of car will be a highway road-trip car. I am looking at doing some traveling about 1-2x per month on weekends between 4-5 hour highway trips. I thought this car would be perfect for that. Not looking to spend an arm and a leg, but it seems like these cars are nicely priced currently.
Any other things to consider? Things that should be deal breakers or should be absolutely avoided? Thanks for the feedback.

This was how I researched before I bought mine. I always believe "cheap cars seldom are good deals"

You could buy mine, already been through all the common issues and it's all up to date on every maintenance item, and has a whole lot of upgrades!
For any you are looking for, the most important thing is to know what has been done and to look for signs of the issues you already mentioned. Try to get a sense if the owner, and I would avoid buying any of these from a used car dealer, they tend to have a lot of problem cars. A VCDS scan is a great tool to look for signs of past sins, codes will be stored and time stamped. A bunch can look bad, but sometimes it just means the car had a low battery at some point, but there are specific things to look for.

Thanks guys. Jack good luck with the sale. Unfortunately you are across the country and I'm not really looking to ship. I also think I want a facelift car with the FSI engine. The S8 keeps drawing me, but I have to remember that I am really just looking for an ultra-comfy highway cruiser.
