I did it without a lift. A jack and a couple jackstands are all that is needed, I did a full write up on how to do it with all the parts and part numbers you need, with pictures. It's a pain in the neck, and the dealer quote of 2500 is cheap if they remove the motor like you are supposed to. Nearly the entire job is just making room to access the bolts you need.
