Currently own A6 but lease is up. Can buy 05 A8L loaded (aren't the all) with 23k miles for $38k.

Agreed - good price if indeed loaded w/CPO or extended warranty.
Loaded is a relative term. Some options to look for that would make a 2005 A8 truly "loaded" are:
Heated/Cooled/Massage seats (excellent btw)
XM or Sirius Radio
Sport Package (paddle shift, suspension)
19" wheels (inc with the sport pkg) or available separatly
Solar Sunroof
Dual Pane Security glass

premium package includes,rear seat vanity mirrors (A8L),electric rear sunshade,rear side window shades,power trunk open/close,advanced key,heated front & rear seats,power closing doors, audi parking system.

Yes, it's CPO. It has vanity mirrors, heated f/r seats, pwr trunk, paddle shifts (but no sport wheel
solar roof, pwr shade, remote key, park assist, not sure what else...not sure what else i would want (except for the wheels - go figure). Thanks again.

When did the sport package become available on the A8?
when did the sport package become available on the 2005 A8? It sure wasn't at the beginning of the model year. Paddle shifting was, though, but only with the wooden, 3-spoke steering wheel.

maybe it doesn't have sports pkg...it does have the wood steering wheel. what type/size of wheels are those? they look great.
