For my 2006 W12 I took the controls from a 2008-2010 A8 that have Aluminum trim and the Aluminum shift paddles from the same car. Brightened-up my world a little bit. Next I am swapping my window switches for Aluminum trimmed Q7 switches.

I have from the factory a hybrid solid wood with Leather around the main grip area's. It has paddle shifters and all of the MMI controls, etc. That package came with a matching solid wood shifter ****... very nice touch! The only thing I wish it had was the heater in the leather areas on the steering wheel... very nice feature on those -20c days!

A couple of mm of plastic need to be trimmed away on the underside of the armrest. I will post pics if successful with that endeavor.

You can try replacing it with a D4 steering wheel, just as I did here, but please note that it's not quite plug and play, and you will have to do some modifications. The only thing that is fully compatible is the horn. Airbag also seem to be compatible (no errors on dash/VCDS), although I don't have a way to fully test it.
I still have to update that thread when I will finish with the multifunction keys modification (work in progress, I will finish in a couple of days... I hope ).

Audi never manufactured heated wood+leather steering wheel. If you want a heated steering wheel, it must be full leather.
The only car manufactured by VAG group which has heated wood+leather steering wheel seems to be VW Phaeton.

If you are referring to the steering wheel with flat bottom, then I did that on my old A6 4F. It wasn't quite a sensation (except that it was brand new and with perforated leather), but I don't think it will look good on A8.

Definitely interested in that mod. I always thought that it would look very good.
