Dealer says all A8 L W12s are pre-sold units and there are no 2005's left.
Meaning that if I order a car tomorrow, it has to be a 2006.
Does this sound kosher? I trust the dealer, just wondering if there's something you guys are doing to order these cars that my dealer and I haven't thought of...?
I didn't realize the car was in such high demand :-(

They are all customer order cars....
no dealers are allowed to order W12's for dealer stock. I ordered 3 (2 are presold). Email me and I'll set you up with a salesman if you dont mind buying in SFL. Figure I owe ya for the Maserati.

Only a 150 W12 will be produced for the U.S market for 2005.
Audi does not let its dealers order a W12 if it is not a sold order with deposit.
I am sure that the demand in Europe will be even greater than here so your dealer is right.

MMR - $60k for Phaeton W12
Personally, I would never buy a W12. If you want a W12, I would recommend getting a Phaeton. Here is the W12 numbers from Manheim Auctions. It's funny the VW sister is not selling and Audi is all sold out. If I had to have the W12, I would pick the VW over Audi for this type of money.

I feel the opposite
Like all other versions of the Phaeton vs. A8/A8L, I would rather have the A8L W12 than the Phaeton W12 any damn day. VW has no business whatsoever treading into the luxury car market. That is what VW has Audi and Bentley for. I can't help but to clown anyone who buys a Phaeton over any "real" luxury car, be it the D3 A8/A8L, S Class, 7 Series, new STS, LS430 or even the XJ.
