I'm having trouble with my engine, it runs eraticly (at low rpm) and hasn't got the umph while driving. So I'd like to read out some diagnostics.
Since I've build in a PC with an 11.2 touch screen, WirelessLan and GPS, for playing MP3/DVD and navigating, I thougt this is the moment to use the PC for diagnostics...
As I was roamin around the forum I did find lots of information. But Im still not sure I have my facts right. I hope I could get some answers to these questions:

First of all I'd like to readout the faults from the ECU.
1) Does my car use OBD2 or ?
2) What is the pinout of the connector (I prefer an com-port version)
3) Should I buy a cable or make it myself
4) Where can I find software to get the data from my car (preferred free sotfware)

I found softwareforcars.com, but that's quite expensive (+$200,-). Maybe I'd like that to use in the future... for realtime data but for now I only need the (existing) error codes.
