Easiest way to remove air ride compressor for repair a8l 04?
I've not found a step by step guide for removing the air ride compressor. Who has done it and what advice/guide do you have? Any special steps needed for keeping pressure in the lines or do the ballasts and solinoid take care of that?
Thank you!
Thank you!

I've serviced mine a couple of times to replace the rubber bushings in the compressor mounting frame, and to replace the piston ring. Jack up the car, turn the steering wheel all the way right, and remove the wheel liner and you'll see it in there. Also remove the belly pan to make it easier to work on. 4 bolts/bushings hold the compressor in the frame. No special steps to keep lines pressurized. I understand you can also go in through the front, but going in through the wheel liner area lets me inspect the suspension components (on the driver's side anyway).

Thank you very much! I have the piston ring and the air filter/dryer repair kit. Good to know I can disconnect everything from the pump and give it a cleaning and repair on my bench without issue. I plan on working on it tonight after work and the little one is asleep.

Before opens it up and start butchering it, plug in 12V to see if it pumps, if it does then stop. I'd bought a set since it's cheap, haven't used it since. The pump piston don't wear out enough to lose pressure output much, I prefer original equipment with original seals.

Always a fan of your positivity and confidence in others throughout the threads there Lou! I'll give urs a go, but I hear it running, very loudly, but I'm not putting anything away my cleaver and parchment paper yet. May still have to butcher it Benihana style! *pooofff onion volcano *

Regardless what people think about A8, I do believe it's built to last the lifetime I own it.., LOL. I trust people like Mr. Bally who owns A8L since 45kmiles to 270k miles. If it lasts that long without doing much, then it must be good.
