Engine coolant

Noooooo
Looking for major troubles if you do, if you cannot get to an Audi or VW dealer locally, order it online. You may even find it at a NAPA parts store, our local store carriers it.

You should not.
You'll find the Pentosin fluids at Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, etc.

+3 now. Only use the Audi stuff. G12 was subpar and superseded by Audi anyway. When you go to the store, you are looking for either G12++ (sold as Pentosin Pentofrost ++), or G13 (sold as Pentosin Pentofrost E). All dealer has now is G13. They all intermix so don't worry about that.

AutoZone or Pep Boys, I cant remember which one, carries Pentosin Audi specific coolant as well. I bought a liter of it in an emergency when I was out of town and my temp gauge was acting funky.

Where did the coolant go?
i only ask because I had a similar issue and ended up replacing the oil cooler to fix my leak. Just may want to check your oil to make sure no coolant is mixing.

I just bought Pentaosin Pentafrost G12+ for my 2004 A8L; they had it for $17 at O'Reilly Auto Parts. According to the vehicle owner's documentation, you do NOT want to put anything except the G12 in there. I'm pretty sure (I just read it a few hours ago) even says that in the case you need to add and you do not have G12 to use regular water until you can get G12!
I'm not sure entirely I need it, but the engine has been running 'hot' in that it warms up very fast and takes a long time to cool down and I can feel the heat radiating at times out with my hand out the window and moving. The temperature sensor, however, never goes above the half-way between L and H so, I am probably being nitpicky. That being said the coolant fluid level is at 'MIN' or below fill marks when the engine is hot and running. Other cars I've been in always appear to be around max or above when running, or at least higher than the half way mark if filled properly, not at min or right below. So I'm keeping it around. I don't think any coolant is leaking but I could be wrong. After all the coolant is supposed to be in a sealed system with these cars I believe?
Regards!
