Default Exchange XM for Sirius....easy swap?

Dealer mentioned he'd do this for a song. Now parts is saying it's a factory installed option, and they say the parts alone are $1300. I smell a rat. Isn't it just swapping one box for another?

Anyone do this yet?

Default Check out clair parts...

If satellite is activated, I would assume that it's just a matter of swapping. it's only when you remove the satellite that you get screwy things going on in the MMI screen. Actually, I don't think the MMI comes on at all!

Default I'm looking to trade my sirius for an XM

It's from an 05 allroad, I don't know if they are the same part number or not, but I believe it is.

If you can find how to pull yours out, and it is part number 8E0-057-593E, then it would be a match. My sirius is part number 8E0-057-593D.

In the allroads, it's in the trunk, pretty easy to get to. It's just plug and play.

Let me know if you're interested. jdohrn@gmail.com

Default A rat there be, and parts dept. thinks you're the cheese. The sat radio lists for $550, so $1300...

...for parts alone tests the limits of "legal robbery" IMHO. The car comes pre-wired, so the install should be relatively easy. I believe there's been a post here about swapping out/installing a sat unit, but I can't recall when/who posted it.

Default Doubtful, the XM box in the allroad is probably closer to the A4/S4 A6 line of cars....

The A8 uses fiber optics.

Default Eric I would air on the side caution with the link....

(no offence Jee)

I would call clair parts before you order this and get confirmation that it will work in an A8.

Default Called 'em this morning.

That's an '04 part, and the 'x' on the number is a remanufactured part.

However, Clair was able to get me the right part # (minus the X) and pricing, and let me know it's available, under $475 or so, and in the states, and will work on the '06. Sweeeeeet.
