I'm looking into a 2004 A8L and have been reading up a bit on the VIN#'s and what not...the last 5 digits on this one is 012861 - would this make it car # 12861 and if so, are these high numbers ok...? and are there any numbers in VIN that I should stay away from?

Also, I see some A8L and A8L SE...? I thought there was only the A8 and A8L...can someone elaborate on this for me - thanks a ton!

Last but not least, how do I know what the warranty is on these cars and where can I find the TSB's?

I can spend some time and answer any questions you have. As to the "SE" that was affixed to UK market cars as a certain trim level. Not sure why that would be listed with US cars. Fro 2004's the higher the better (I would suggest over 18000 VIN #).

I will most likely be going to the GTG unless something comes up.

Now am I correct in stating that the last 6 digits of the serial denotes the car #..?

Also, any way to tell on the warranty?
