I wanted to share the below news article. The comment about the A8 had me rolling on the floor...


"New recordings unveiled on Friday by Israel's Channel 10 News revealed former prime minister Ehud Olmert told his former aide Shula Zaken, that former prime minister and defense minister Ehud Barak accepted bribes worth "millions and tens of millions" of shekels in an arms deal. In the conversation, which took place in the summer of 2011, Olmert claimed Ehud Barak accepted a bribe of millions in an arms deals that he was involved in.

"You know Barak asked for the Audi A8? You know why?" Olmert is heard asking Zaken in the recording. "Because I have an Audi. Just because of his jealously that I drive an Audi A8, that insane man wanted it. But he will end up in prison. Remember what I'm telling you Shula…" Olmert tells Zaken.
Later on in the conversation, Olmert is heard saying, "He took a bribe worth millions and tens of millions.

Kind of disappointed. Despot wheels of choice has traditionally been an S-class or 7 series. A8s have generally stayed off those folks radars which is a part of why I have one.

Interesting that Merkel prefers the Audi over the Mercedes. She is almost always in the Audi, when she is in Germany.

I thought that Merkel has one of each and they rotate through them to be fair with their 3 brands.

Are those smaller (than 19") turbine wheels? Guessing they are for run flats and the armored part additions making the car heavier.

Saw some of them in Berlin last year--hard to miss with the BMW motorcycles and police cars rushing ahead constantly to close intersections. Saw two (together) fairly close up parked in front of the Brandenburger Tor (Gate). Pretty normal A8L look to the outside at a casual glance. Right away if a door is open you notice the built up nature of the door and especially the window frame area, just for starters.

W/ D4's at 420's as I recall for the heavier ones, should be at least 19's
