Just confused if I'm getting all 4 tires raised on a car lift do I need to use the Jack mode or not? Thanks for the input!
Jack mode is for when one or more wheels are off the ground/in the air and are free to spin (assuming no parking brake, etc.). Keeps air suspension compressor from trying to (mis) correct for car imbalance and such. Temporarily disable compressor and ride height measurement might be clearer terms.

If you put car on a drive on-drive off lift and it stays on its wheels, no real need to use it. Same if you use ramps at home. By contrast lift mode raises suspension about an inch, w/ car on pavement. I often use that in jacking car up, but simply to get floor jack cleanly under there. If wheel is coming off the ground, it's a combination of both.

Both modes self cancel out with driving (jack mode almost immediately), so no harm done if you forget later. From BTDT, sooner or later you will forget jack mode in lifting too; once in a while after lowering the jack the car will drop way down and then recover. An extra bad day is if jack gets stuck under there but car hasn't gone to bottom yet. Some incremental risk I suppose when it goes all the way down of seal damage since it basically seems to go all the way to whatever its lower stop is. If you ever adjust the ride height with VCDS mod, it may do the same thing, so presumably system contemplates possibility.

if you are using jacking mode on a lift, for something more time consuming, dont forget to put on a battery charger, it will almost drain the battery over night

Sounds like something else going on. I had a car on jack stands in lift mode for a week and a half with no battery issues.

I meant jack mode, before someone calls me on it. Could be a couple reasons it drains the battery, maybe the car isn't going to sleep for some reason in those conditions.

Agreed. Doesn't sound right or related to jack mode. If anything, jack mode avoids the suspension system trying to cycle and adjust, and compressor is definitely a reasonable load suck.

Be sure battery is not headed south in general. If more than 3 or 4 years old, starts to be a suspect in general. And if 7 -10 years old that they sometimes are on D3's, no brainer to change out when flaky electrical stuff starts happening.

Yes jack mode cancels the auto-leveling.

The battery module should roll back any loads and save itself before losing the ability to start.

If it can't start after standing 2 weeks or more, something is wrong with the source, the loads/modules or the battery manager.

My OEM battery was original and 12 years old before replacement.
