I'm picking up my new 08 a8 and extremely excited. I've been reading a lot about these cars on this forum for months. Now, I have the confidence and know-how to maintain and diag this vehicle. I do have a question about ami for the 08's. I have a iPhone 5 and would like to replace the 30pin cable to the lighting cable. I've found the cables all over eBay but none say that they will have full functionality with mmi. Is there any vendor I should be purchasing from? I've also ordered ross-tech scan tool (a must have based on every post read lol).

Don't buy the cable, get the Bluetooth adaptor, I believe it's part # 4F0051510J.

I didn't like the bluetooth adapter. It sounded like crap. YMMV. I can't stand mp3 encoded music either for the same reason.

For about the same price, I bought the AMI cable with the female USB attachment, then connected a 128GB flash drive to it. I agree with Richard-TX on compression. My music is mostly 320kbps MP3, but because it is still compressed, it sounds "just OK," even on the Bang & Olufsen system. Guess I need to switch over to uncompressed files, but what a headache.

Music from actual CDs sounds incredible, though.

Thanks for all the replies! Lmbo, I do know that this vehicle WILL cause nights of lost sleep but I've been in love with this car for years. As a man with my first child and married to a wife who love spacious vehicles, I knew this was the opportunity I was waiting for. She LOVES the car and with the ability to DIY, AND the help of this forum i see this car staying around for years to come.
