Default Was Green S6 MN - New A8L is here

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/31805/inside_a8_left.t.jpg"></center><p>I pick up my A8L tomorrow morning.

The Audi Exclusive interior is impressive; the dealer's sales guys are scrambling to show it to potential customers before I take delivery.

I had a quick look yesterday, and took a few pictures. I loaded those to my picture poster. As I have not figured out how to post them into the body of a message.

If anyone is interested, I will take a series of better quality and more detailed pictures and post them.

Monday morning I am off on a 4k driving trip. a great loop from Minneapolis to the Texas coast, Big Bend National Park, then home through the Central Rockies; a fine way to become familiar with the S6 successor I believe.

Default Congrats and very nice...

But something disappoints me. For all that money, the top of the dash is not wrapped in leather. What is Audi thinking?

Good point, everything else is a rather soft leather, including the leadliner which has a burnished, buttery texture. There are a quite a number of detail items. I only had a few minutes with the car. When I get my hands on it I will give a more detailed report.

The jury is definitely still out on the interior being worth the extra $10k. But it does stand out.

They've probably solved the problem with new leather treatments, but years ago there was a BMW 6-series variant called the L6 which came with a beautifully stitched and integrated leather dash and which unfortunately cracked in the sun. BMW had to continue replacing them through what was then a 3-year warranty period, usually one per year.

Default Durability

Hard to imagine leather dash top lasting six months here in AZ...unless so heavily treated it might as well be polymer.

Default W12 has the leather dash available...

I've had several cars with them and they have stood up very well. My point is that for $11k the dash and upper door panels should not be vinyl.
