Headlight issue
 

Hi,

My 2009 3.0TDI has a problem with the right headlight low beam. It became reddish pink, should I replace the bulb or do you think it's another issue?
as well the car is LHD, do you think I have to disassemble the wheel arch or I can go only by taking out the air filter box?

I attached a photo that shows the difference between sides.

More than likely, it is the bulb. The easiest way to verify is to swap the bulbs from side to side and see if the problem follows. I had almost the same issue a few months ago. Replaced the bulbs with new ones and all is great. Remember to replace both bulbs. That way the color and brightness matches.

Common enough issue, you replace both because even the still okay one won't match a new one, do both and it will look nice and symmetrical again with the best visibility possible. Be careful, some aftermarket ones don't illuminate very well.

This is what my bulb was doing as the entire damn assembly was going out. It would flicker and turn off, and while it was on, would turn to a much less intense color. My car is now at Audi being analyzed to figure out WTF is wrong. Be on the lookout for MIL on the dash indicating the light went out. If it doesn't, then yes it's probably just the bulb. Get an Osram D2S 4700k or 4750K or whatever it is and be done with it. Passenger side is easy to get to.

To install, take the air intake off - a few Phillips heads and a Torx, and then open the back of the headlamp assembly. You'll feel the ballast , and when you turn the ballast and pull it out, the bulb is retained in there with two clips. Feel around, remove it, put in the new one, put in the ballast, close it back up. If your air filter hasn't been replaced in a while, may as well take advantage of this to replace that as well.

Late to the party but it's your bulb. Like others have posted, you NEED to replace both since the wear out equally by time. I used the Osram cool blue vs a lot of people here have used the Osram night breakers. It's just your preference on the color. I hate any shade of yellow with my headlights.
