hello all, quick question ref D3 tires...

Dad has an 06' Audi A8 (my heart lies with BMW, I drive a 95' 740il) and wondering which tires are the ones to get. Living in upstate NY, snow and ice is a big issue a lot of the year...any advice? Thanks so much...

wow your car is almost the same as ours! Winter setup here in canada:
on 19 inch turbine wheels like yours, we use the pirelli sottozero 240. Excellent set of tires as long as you follow the basic rules of snow driving of course. Comfortable on the highway during high speed crusing, minimal tire noise. Have not really had a chance to test grip on ice. 2nd winter season with the tires and good thread life so far.

haha, you have good taste-where abouts in canada? (thanks for the advice, by the way ;) )

I mounted Blizzak LM-22 dedicated snows on the 19" turbine wheels
and the car climbs trees! We had a blizzard 2 years ago(Its so infrequent in Philly that I actually remember it) and the A8 was the ONLY car doing the speed limit. No problems whatsoever with these tires.

I'd had the LM22s mounted on 17" wheels and they were great...they are available for sale

According to the BMW forum, Tire Rack
has NO MORE Blizzak OR Conti dedicated snows for the rest of the season!!!
|
Sorry Greenie...I meant MY set is available for sale now that I don't have the A8L anymore...
I got a set of the Dunlop M3s mounted on MSW wheels from Tire Rach for the E63 but of course today the snow has come before I've had the chance to put them on the car!!

No need to apologize Arkay! Hows that E63 doin`?
Its gotta be a HOOT to drive!!

thanks for the input....nice to see some fellow A8 drivers...
thanks to all..
