Help!! Its cold and the trunk will not close properly
There is an on going problem with my trunk not closing when the temperature drops. The auto close does not latch in the trunk to a tight seal. When it first happened last year, it would need a little manual pressure to close properly. Now, nothing seems to work. I reported this to the dealer months ago and they could not figure it out ( or believe ) the problem. Any ideas?

Re: Its a 2004 , thanks
I reported it when it was in for the 35k service, but all they did was oiled the hinges ( I figure them fixing the other 6 expensive problems were enough ) This only happens when its cold, don't know why. With 2k left on the original warranty, I am turning it in again for service. Thank you all

The dealer should be able to adjust the catch mechanism.
My '04 had the same problem, and this past weekend the dealer adjusted something and now the trunk closes every time. Already had the hinges replaced several months ago, so I'm not sure the non-closing problem is always attributable to the hinges.

My '05 had a similar problem recently. The trunk would only latch loosely - it seemed the electric pull down would only work intermittently(not temperature dependent). My dealer actually fixed it along with two other problems. They replaced some part of the latch mechanism. Good luck with yours - it's an aggravating problem!

Pierre, thanks for responding to my e-mail, requesting your advice for alexpho!
Since we have to assume his car had its hinges replaced years ago like all '04D3's have had done on the "recall" (guess one could call it a recall or TSB).
